Sony has raised the price of its latest video gaming console model in India. The PS5 was earlier available for Rs. 49,990 in India, and has now seen a price hike of about 10 percent. Users can purchase the next-gen gaming console with a disk for Rs. 54,990, and the console's digital version will cost Rs. 44,990 on the website.
Meanwhile, the price of PS5 accessories like the PS5 DualSense controller, Pulse 3D headphones, HD Camera, and PS5 DualSense Charging Station will remain the same. Therefore, buyers can get them for ₹5,990, ₹8,590, ₹5,190, and ₹2,590, respectively. The price hike in the PS5 comes days before the launch of God of War Ragnarok, which will go online on November 9.
The PS5 video gaming console has two editions- the Standard and the Digital Edition. The main difference is that only the Standard Edition supports physical Blu-ray discs. The digital edition packs 16GB of GDDR6 RAM and has 825GB of internal storage support. An octa-core CPU based on Zen 2 architecture powers the console. The gaming console offers 8K gaming support at up to 120fps. PS5 also supports 4K TV gaming to provide a 120Hz refresh rate. There is HDR TV tech support as well. In addition, Sony's next generation supports Tempest 3D AudioTech, which is said to deliver an immersive gaming experience. The device also comes with a Dual Sense controller to improve haptic feedback.
Earlier this year, Sony increased the price of its PlayStation 5 games console in global markets, including the UK, Europe, Japan, China, Australia, Mexico, and Canada. The company stated that the price hike results from high global inflation rates, including rising interest rates. As a result, the price of the disk drive-equipped version of PS5 increased by 10 percent in Europe from 499.99 euros previously to 549.99 euros ($550.81). In contrast, the price hike was around 6 percent in the UK. The company then said there would be no price increase in the United States. However, it did not say anything about the price rise of PS5 for the Indian market. Alas, it has now increased the prices in the country.
